Hyundai is a South Korean car manufacturer. The largest automaker in the country and the fourth largest in the world. The headquarters are located in Seoul. The company was founded in 1967 by Chung Joo-yeon. In 1998, Hyundai acquired the Korean car maker Kia Motors.
The engine index of the Korean concern consists of four characters:
- The first letter indicates the type of fuel, so G is gasoline, D is diesel and L is hybrid.
- The second digit indicates the number of cylinders, respectively 3, 4, 6 or 8.
- The third letter gives the name of the family, and the fourth – the name within the series.
