SAAB engines
Saab Automobile AB is a Swedish automobile manufacturer that produced passenger cars under the SAAB brand. At the beginning of the 21st century, the company changed owners several times, but its financial situation only worsened, as a result, in December 2011, it was declared bankrupt. In 2012, the company was rescued by the Chinese-Swedish-Japanese company National Electric Vehicle Sweden, but in 2016 it was liquidated. The headquarters was in Trollhättan. The name SAAB is a recursive acronym and stands for SAAB Automobil AktieBolaget (originally stood for Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget).
The index of any engine of the company consists of five characters:
- The first letter here indicates the type of fuel: B is petrol and D is diesel;
- The next 2 digits mean the volume of the engine in liters multiplied by 10;
- The fourth digit indicates the generation of the motor, the more the newer;
- The fifth character separates the same engines within the same line.
