Land Rover engines

Land RoverLand Rover is a British automobile manufacturer specializing in the production of premium off-road vehicles. Since 2008, it has been owned by the Indian company Tata Motors. Part of the Jaguar Land Rover Group.

The Land Rover engine index consists of five characters: first three numbers, then two more letters:

  • The first two digits indicate the size of the engine.
  • The third is the number of cylinders.
  • The fourth character indicates the type of fuel used: P – gasoline and D – diesel.
  • The fifth character indicates the type of engine: N is naturally aspirated, while T and S are supercharged.

Engine Land Rover 42D

The Land Rover 42D 4.0-liter gasoline engine was produced by the company from 1994 to 2002 and was installed in popular SUVs such as the Range Rover II, Defender and Discovery 2. This unit exists in several versions and is also known under the 56D, 57D and 94D indices.

Engine Land Rover PT204

The 2.0-liter Land Rover PT204 gasoline engine has been assembled at a plant in England since 2017 and installed on most modern models of the Discovery, Evoque, Velar group. On cars manufactured under the Jaguar brand, this unit has its own index AJ200P.

Engine Land Rover 204D3

The 2.0-liter Land Rover 204D3 or Freelander 2.0 TD4 engine was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was installed on the first generation Freelander, as well as Rover 75 and MG ZT under the 204D2 index. The first versions of the engine came with a distribution injection pump, then with the Bosch Common Rail system.

Engine Land Rover 256T

The 2.5-liter Land Rover 256T or Range Rover II 2.5 TD engine was assembled from 1994 to 2002 and installed only on the popular second-generation Land Rover Range Rover SUV. This power unit existed in a single modification with a capacity of 136 hp and 270 Nm.

Engine Land Rover 306D1

The 3.0-liter Land Rover 306D1 or Range Rover 3.0 TD6 engine was assembled from 2002 to 2006 and was installed only on the third generation of the Range Rover SUV before its first restyling.

Engine Land Rover 224DT

The 2.2-liter diesel engine Land Rover 224DT or 2.2 TD4 was assembled from 2006 to 2016 and was installed on such popular models as Freelander, Evoque and Jaguar XF under the AJI4D index. Such a unit was installed on Ford cars as Q4BA and on Peugeot, Citroen, Mitsubishi as DW12M.

Engine Land Rover 276DT

The 2.7-liter Land Rover 276DT or Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 engine was assembled from 2004 to 2010 and installed on Land Rover SUVs and a number of Jaguar models under the AJD index. On cars of the Peugeot-Citroen concern, this diesel power unit is known as 2.7 HDi.

Engine Land Rover 306DT

The 3.0-liter diesel engine Land Rover 306DT and 30DDTX or Discovery 3.0 TDV6 and SDV6 has been produced since 2009 and is installed on Land Rover models, as well as Jaguar under the AJV6D index. On Peugeot-Citroen cars, this diesel power unit is known as the 3.0 HDi.

Engine Land Rover 368DT

The 3.6-liter Land Rover 368DT or Range Rover Sport 3.6 TDV8 engine was produced by the concern from 2006 to 2010 and installed on its largest and most expensive SUVs. Later, on the basis of this power unit, an even more powerful diesel engine with a volume of 4.4 liters was created.

Engine Land Rover 448DT

The 4.4-liter diesel engine Land Rover 448DT or Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 was produced from 2010 to 2020 and was installed on the company’s largest and most expensive SUVs. This motor was assembled at the concern’s Mexican plant along with Ford Power Stroke diesels.

Engine Land Rover 10P 2.5 TD5

The 2.5-liter Land Rover TD5 diesel engine with the 10P index was assembled from 1998 to 2002 and installed on the Defender SUV, as well as Discovery II under its own 14P index. When updated to Euro 3 environmental standards, these units received other designations: 15P and 16P.

Engine Land Rover 15P 2.5 TD5

The 2.5-liter Land Rover TD5 diesel engine with the 15P index was installed from 2002 to 2007 on various modifications of the Defender SUV and on Discovery 2 under a different index 16P. These power units are essentially Euro 3 versions of 10P or 14P engines, respectively.

Engine Land Rover 200Tdi

The concern produced a 2.5-liter Land Rover 200Tdi diesel engine from 1989 to 1994 and installed it on the Defender SUV under the 11L index and Discovery under the 12L and 13L index. This power unit was equipped with a mechanical injection pump and it quickly gave way to the 300Tdi engine.

Engine Land Rover 300Tdi

The company produced the 2.5-liter Land Rover 300Tdi diesel engine from 1994 to 2006 and put it on its most popular Defender, Discovery and Range Rover Classic SUVs. The engine replaced the 200Tdi. There are nine versions of this motor from 16L to 24L with a conventional injection pump or electronic EDC.

The 2.0-liter Land Rover 204DTA diesel engine has been assembled in the UK since 2017 and installed on many popular models of the concern, such as Discovery, Evoque, Defender. On cars from Jaguar, this power unit is placed under its own index AJ200D.

The 2.0-liter Land Rover 204DTD diesel engine has been assembled in the UK since 2015 and is installed on almost all modern models of the company such as Discovery Sport, Evoque, Velar. On Jaguar cars, this unit is known under its own index AJ200D.
