GeelyGeely Automobile Holdings Limited is one of the largest Chinese automotive companies based in Hong Kong.

Geely's production facilities include 11 plants capable of producing a total of 1.95 million vehicles per year. All of them are located in China in the cities of Linghai (300 thousand cars per year), Xiangtan (240 thousand), Ningbo (200 thousand), Baoji (200 thousand), Cixi (180 thousand), Jinzhong (180 thousand cars). ), Liuqiao (150 thousand), Hangzhou (2 plants: 150 thousand and 100 thousand), Guiyang (150 thousand), Changxing (100 thousand).

Modern Geely motors have a two-part index.

In the first part of the index, the name of the line of power units is encrypted:

  • JLY – clones of Toyota ZZ, JLD – clones of Toyota AZ and JLH – clones of Volvo Drive-E.

And in the second part, the technical features of the engines are encrypted:

  • 4G20 is a 4-cylinder, G – gasoline, with a volume of 2.0 liters.
  • This is followed by a suffix with symbols such as T – Turbo and D – Direct Injection.

Engine Geely JLH-4G20TD

The 2.0-liter Geely JLH-4G20TD turbo engine has been produced at the Chinese plant since 2018 and is installed on the popular Preface sedan, Xingyue S crossover and many Lynk & Co. models. This power unit is essentially a modification of the famous Volvo B4204T19 engine.

Engine Geely JLH-4G20TDJ

The 2.0-liter Geely JLH-4G20TDJ turbo engine has been produced at a plant in China since 2021 and is installed on such popular models in the local market as Xingyue, Xingyue L, Boyue L. In some markets, this engine appeared only in 2023 and is installed on Tugella crossovers or Atlas 2.

Engine Geely BHE15-AFD

The 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine Geely BHE15-AFD has been produced in China only since 2023 and is so far installed only on the fourth generation of the rather popular Emgrand 7 sedans. This power unit was created as part of a joint venture with Volvo called Aurobay.

Engine Geely BHE15-AFZ

The 1.5-liter Geely BHE15-AFZ turbo engine has been produced by the Chinese concern since 2021 and is installed on the popular Livan X6 Pro crossover, as well as the Livan S6 Pro sedan. This power unit was created as part of a joint venture with Volvo called Aurobay.

The 1.5-liter Geely BHE15-EFZ turbo engine has been produced at a Chinese plant since 2021 and is installed on the restyled Coolray and local versions of the Icon or Atlas 2. This power unit was created as part of a joint venture with Volvo called Aurobay.

Engine Geely JLC-4G15

The 1.5-liter Geely JLC-4G15 or 1.5 DVVT engine has been produced by the concern only since 2016 and is installed only on the second generation of the Emgrand 7 sedan or similar models. There is an updated version of this motor with 114 hp under its own index JLC-4G15B.

Engine Geely JLY-4G15

The 1.5-liter Geely JLY-4G15 or JL4G15D engine has been produced in China since 2009 and is installed on Emgrand 7 or Emgrand EC7 sedans, which are quite popular in some markets. This power unit is based on the very famous Toyota ZZ-series gasoline engines.

Engine Geely JLC-4G18

The 1.8-liter Geely JLC-4G18 or 1.8 DVVT engine has been produced in China only since 2016 and so far is installed only on the second generation of the Emgrand X7 crossover, as well as the GS hatchback. This power unit is a modification of the JLY-4G18 motor already with two phase regulators.

The 1.8-liter 16-valve Geely JLY-4G18 or JL4G18-D engine has been produced since 2007 and is installed on many models of the concern, but is better known for the Emgrand EC7 sedan and X7 crossover. This power unit is essentially a clone of the famous Japanese Toyota 1ZZ-FE engine.

Engine Geely JLD-4G20

The 2.0-liter Geely JLD-4G20 engine has been assembled at the Chinese plant of the concern since 2010 and is installed on the very popular Atlas and Emgrand X7 crossovers. Such a power unit is essentially a clone of the well-known Toyota 1AZ-FE gasoline engine.

The 2.4-liter Geely JLD-4G24 gasoline engine has been assembled at a factory in China since 2010 and is installed on almost all major models of the concern, such as the Atlas crossover and Emgrand X7. This power unit is essentially a clone of the famous Japanese Toyota 2AZ-FE engine.

Engine Geely JLE-4G18TD

The 1.8-liter Geely JLE-4G18TD engine was produced at the Chinese plant from 2015 to 2019 and was installed on the pre-styling version of the Borui sedan, which was delivered to some markets as the Emgrand GT. This turbo unit is of our own design, but in design it is similar to the VW EA888 engine.

Engine Geely JLE-4G18TDB

The 1.8-liter Geely JLE-4G18TDB or 1.8 TGDi engine has been produced by the concern since 2017 and is installed on the Atlas crossover, popular in some markets, and the large Emgrand GT sedan. This turbo engine is considered an in-house developed unit and is very similar to the VW EA888 engine.

Engine Geely JLH-3G15TD

The 1.5-liter 3-cylinder Geely JLH-3G15TD engine has been produced in China since 2018 and is installed on the popular Atlas and Coolray crossovers, as well as their modifications under the Proton brand. This power unit is essentially a clone of the B3154T turbo engine known from the Volvo XC40.

Engine Geely JLH-4G20TDB

The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Geely JLH-4G20TDB engine has been produced in China since 2019 and is installed only in the Tugella crossover, which is sold locally as Xingyue. This power unit was essentially a clone of the B4204T23 turbo engine known from the Volvo XC60.

Engine Geely MR479Q

The 1.3-liter 4-cylinder Geely MR479Q engine was produced in China from 1998 to 2016 and installed in many local models, but it is known abroad only for the LC Cross hatchback. This unit is a clone of the Toyota 8A-FE engine and was installed on Lifan under the index LF479Q3.

The 1.5-liter Geely MR479QA gasoline engine was produced in China from 2000 to 2016 and installed on a number of local models, and abroad it is known only by MK and MK Cross. This motor was a clone of the Toyota 5A-FE unit and was installed on the Lifan under the index LF479Q2.
