Engine Hyundai-Kia G6DM

The 3.3-liter Hyundai-Kia G6DM or 3.3 GDi engine has been produced by the concern since 2016 and is installed on Cadenza or Grandeur front-wheel drive sedans, as well as Carnival minivans. For K900 in some markets, this engine was adapted for rear-wheel drive and derated to 249 hp.

Lambda 3.3L family: G6DB, G6DF, G6DH, G6DM, G6DP.

The engine was installed on:

  • Hyundai Grandeur 6 (IG) since 2017;
  • Kia Cadenza 2 (YG) in 2016 – 2021;
  • Kia Carnival 3 (YP) in 2018 – 2020;
  • Kia K900 2 (RJ) since 2018.

Disadvantages of the Hyundai G6DM engine

  • The main problem with GDi units is the formation of carbon deposits on intake valves;
  • The aluminum motor is afraid of overheating, so keep an eye on its cooling system;
  • It is not yet clear how long the timing chains will last, the resource was low on the predecessor;
  • Hydraulic lifters are not provided here and valve clearances will have to be adjusted.
