BMW engines

BMWBMW AG is a German manufacturer of cars, motorcycles, engines and bicycles. For car enthusiasts, BMW is a dream car, for competitors – a quality bar.

The name of most of the company's engines consists of two parts – the main part of three characters and a suffix:

  • the first letter is the generation of the engine: M – first, N – second, B – third, S – sports version;
  • the second digit is the type of engine: 4 – R4, 5 – R6, 6 – V8, 7 – V12;
  • the third digit indicates the position of the motor within the generation: the more, the newer.

The suffix can consist of a different number of characters, but there are usually at least three of them:

  • the first character shows the type of fuel consumed: B – gasoline, D – diesel, G – gas;
  • the next two digits are the displacement of the engine in liters multiplied by ten;
  • other symbols indicate the power class, and for example TU is an updated version.

The catalog contains engines for the following BMW models: 1-Series | 2-Series | 3-Series | 4-Series | 5-Series | 6-Series | 7-Series | 8-Series | E3 | E9 | M3 | M5 | M6 | X1 | X3 | X4 | X5 | X6 | Z1 | Z3 | Z4 | Z8.
