BMW Z8
The BMW Z8 is a sports roadster produced in small series in Munich from 2000 to 2003.
The graceful open car became a kind of “heir” of the BMW 507 roadster of the fifties. BMW Z8 had an aluminum body and was equipped with a removable metal top. Among the features of the car are neon rear lighting and an atypical arrangement of instruments in the center of the front panel for the Bavarian brand.
Under the hood of the BMW Z8 roadster was a 4.9-liter 8-cylinder engine with a capacity of 400 hp from the BMW M5 sedan. For better weight distribution, the power unit was located closer to the cabin, within the wheelbase. Transmission – 6-speed manual. With such power equipment, the Z8 accelerated to 100 km / h in 4.7 seconds.
At the end of 2002, the production of roadsters was completed, but it was replaced by a factory “tuning” product – the Alpina V8 Roadster model. This version received a less powerful V8 4.8 engine (375 hp) and a five-speed automatic transmission instead of a manual.
In total, until 2003, 5703 roadsters were produced, 555 of them had Alpina nameplates.
