Peugeot engines (PSA)

PeugeotGroupe PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme) is a French automotive company, the second largest car manufacturer in Europe. The headquarters is in Rueil-Malmaison, Ile-de-France, France. Owner of brands such as Citroën, Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall and DS Automobiles. On January 16, 2021, it merged with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V (FCA), forming the Stellantis Corporation with an annual production of about 8.7 million vehicles under 14 brands.

The combination of the first two or three letters serves as the name of a particular family of aggregates.

The number indicates the position of the engine within the line and the larger it is, the newer it is.

The characters after the number describe the characteristics of the engine, decoding some of them:

  • 2 – 2 valves per cylinder
  • K – carburetor
  • M – single injection
  • J – multipoint injection
  • 4 – 4 valves per cylinder
  • T – turbo
  • E – electronic control
  • D – direct injection

Engine Peugeot DW10TD

The 2.0-liter 8-valve Peugeot DW10TD engine belongs to a large series of 2.0 HDi diesel engines. This power unit was produced from 1999 to 2006 in three different versions: RHY – for passenger car models, RHX – for minivans or RHV – for minibuses.

Engine Peugeot DW10ATED

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10ATED or RHZ diesel engine was produced from 1998 to 2004 and was installed on many mid-size concern models of its time, such as 307, 406 and 607. There was a modification of the engine for commercial vehicles with its own DW10UTED index.

Engine Peugeot DW10ATED4

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10ATED4 or RHW diesel engine was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was installed on the popular 806 and 807 minivans, as well as their clones from other manufacturers. After a slight modernization in 2006, the power unit received a new index DW10UTED4.

Engine Peugeot DW10BTED4

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10BTED4 or DW10B diesel engine was assembled from 2004 to 2015 and was installed on many popular models of the French concern, such as 307, 308, 407, 508 and 607. There were two versions: RHJ – with Siemens fuel equipment and RHR – with Common Rail Delphi.

Engine Peugeot DW10CTED4

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10CTED4 or DW10C diesel engine was assembled from 2009 to 2015 and was installed on the company’s most massive mid-size models, such as 308, 407, 508 or 807. A version of this engine derated to 150 hp with the DW10DTED4 index was also offered.

Engine Peugeot DW10DTED4

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10DTED4 or DW10D diesel engine was assembled from 2009 to 2015 and was installed only on the Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4, as well as some compact vans based on them. The power unit is essentially a slightly deformed modification of the DW10CTED4 motor.

Engine Peugeot DW10FCTED4

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10FCTED4 or DW10FC diesel engine has been produced since 2014 and is installed on many of the group’s popular mid-size models, such as 3008, 5008 and Traveler. There is a modification of the DW10FPTED4 engine with a twin turbocharger of 210 hp and 450 Nm.

Engine Peugeot DW10FDTED4

The 2.0-liter Peugeot DW10FDTED4 or DW10FD diesel engine has been produced since 2013 and is installed on a number of medium-sized models of the French concern, such as 3008 and 5008. There is a derated version of this engine with 122 hp and 340 Nm with the DW10FETED4 index.

Engine Peugeot DW12TED4

The 2.2-liter Peugeot DW12TED4 or DW12ATED4 engine was produced from 2000 to 2006 and installed on the largest models of the French concern, such as 406 and 607. There were three engine versions: 4HX and 4HZ for passenger cars and 4HW for minivans 807 and C8.

Engine Peugeot DW12BTED4

The 2.2-liter Peugeot DW12BTED4 or DW12B engine was assembled by the company from 2006 to 2010 and installed on the most prestigious models of the French concern, such as 407, 607 or 807. There were four versions of this Bi-Turbo diesel: 4HP, 4HT for manual transmission and 4HR, 4HS for automatic transmission.

Engine Peugeot DW12CTED4

The 2.2-liter Peugeot DW12CTED4 or DW12C or 4HL engine was produced from 2010 to 2015 and was installed only on the two most prestigious models of the company: Peugeot 508 and Citroen C5. Modifications of this power unit are often found on Ford cars.

Engine Peugeot DW12MTED4

The 2.2-liter Peugeot DW12MTED4 or DW12M diesel engine was assembled from 2007 to 2013 and installed on the Mitsubishi Outlander crossover and its clones such as the Peugeot 4007 or Citroen C-Crosser. This power unit existed in two versions: 4HN for Euro 4 or 4HK for Euro 5.

Engine Peugeot DW12UTED

The 2.2-liter Peugeot DW12UTED or DW12U or 4HY engine was produced from 2002 to 2006 and was installed on the popular Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Jumper or Fiat Ducato minibuses. This unit was distinguished from other engines of the series by the presence of an 8-valve cylinder head.

Engine Peugeot TUD3

The 1.4-liter Peugeot TUD3 diesel engine was produced from 1988 to 1994 in France and was installed on such small models of the concern as the AX or 106, as well as the Rover 100. This power unit was upgraded for EURO 1 in 1992, as a result of which it lost 3 hp.

Engine Peugeot TUD5

The Peugeot TUD5 1.5 liter diesel engine was produced from 1994 to 2003 and replaced the TUD3. The power unit was widely used not only on French small cars, it was installed on Nissan, Rover, Maruti, Proton, Lada cars.

Engine Peugeot XUD7

The 1.8-liter Peugeot XUD7 or 161A diesel engine was produced from 1982 to 2005 and was installed mainly on commercial models of the concern, but it is also found on passenger cars. This unit is primarily known for the Citroen C15, which is very popular in Europe.

Engine Peugeot XUD7TE

The 1.8-liter Peugeot XUD7TE or A8A diesel engine was produced from 1987 to 1995 and was installed both on a number of its own models and on cars from other manufacturers. Such an engine in the XUD7T version without an intercooler with 78 hp and 157 Nm was installed on the Peugeot 205 and 309.

Engine Peugeot XUD9

The 1.9-liter Peugeot XUD9 diesel engine was assembled from 1982 to 2005 at different factories and installed not only on the models of the French concern, but also on other automakers. In addition to the main modification, depending on the forcing, the XUD9A and XUD9B versions were distinguished.

Engine Peugeot XUD9SD

The 1.9-liter Peugeot XUD 9 SD or DHW diesel engine was produced from 1995 to 2007 and was installed both on models of the French concern and on cars from other manufacturers.

Engine Peugeot XUD9TE

The 1.9-liter Peugeot XUD9TE or D8A diesel engine was produced from 1992 to 2000 and was installed in both passenger cars and commercial vehicles, as well as minibuses.

Engine Peugeot XUD11A

The 2.1-liter Peugeot XUD11A or P9A diesel engine was produced from 1990 to 1997 and was installed only on two models of the French concern: Peugeot 605 and Citroen XM. This unit is significantly less common relative to its turbocharged counterparts.

Engine Peugeot XUD11ATE

The 2.1-liter Peugeot XUD11ATE or P8A diesel engine was produced from 1989 to 2000 and was installed on some popular models of the French concern such as 406, 605, 806. This power unit in the EURO 2 version had its own XUD11BTE index.
