Toyota Fortuner

Toyota FortunerToyota Fortuner is a mid-size SUV (light truck) from Toyota Motor Corporation. The model is based on the previously released Toyota Hilux pickup. The 5-7-seater SUV began to be produced in 2005 in Thailand, then in Indonesia and other countries. Initially, the machine was intended for use in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Fortuner is equipped with full or rear wheel drive. In 2015, the assembly shop in Thailand began to produce the second generation of the machine.

The described Toyota model is one of the few where diesel engines prevail in the line of power plants. Of the four engines that were on the Fortuner, three – with a common rail direct injection system.

Engine Toyota 1GR-FE

The 4.0-liter V6 Toyota 1GR-FE engine has been produced in factories in Japan and the USA since 2002 and is installed in many pickups and SUVs, but is best known for the Land Cruiser Prado. There are two generations of this power unit: with VVT-i and Dual VVT-i type phase regulators.

Engine Toyota 2TR-FE

The 2.7-liter Toyota 2TR-FE engine has been assembled since 2004 at factories in Japan and Indonesia for large pickups and SUVs. This motor was originally equipped with a VVT-i phase regulator at the intake, and in 2015 a newer Dual VVT-i system appeared already on two shafts.

Engine Toyota 2GD-FTV

The 2.4-liter Toyota 2GD-FTV engine has been assembled since 2015 at the company’s Japanese plant and is installed on large pickup trucks, SUVs and minibuses. Like all modern diesel engines, it is literally obsessed with ecology and in the EURO 6 version it is equipped with EGR, DOC, DPF and SCR systems.

Engine Toyota 1GD-FTV

The 2.8-liter Toyota 1GD-FTV engine has been produced since 2015 at the concern’s Japanese plant and is installed on many large pickup trucks, SUVs and minibuses. This diesel engine is literally obsessed with ecology: its EURO 6 version is equipped with EGR, DOC, DPF and SCR systems.

Engine Toyota 2KD-FTV

The 2.5-liter Toyota 2KD-FTV engine has been produced since 2001 at the company’s Japanese plant and is used in large Hilux pickups, Fortuner and 4Runner SUVs, and Innova minivans. For basic modifications of minibuses and pickups, there is an atmospheric version of 102 hp.

Engine Toyota 1KD-FTV

The new 3-liter 1KD-FTV diesel engine has significantly improved its performance, coming close to gasoline engines of the same capacity in terms of power and significantly exceeding them in terms of torque.

Engine Toyota 5L / 5L-E

The 3.0-liter Toyota 5L diesel engine was assembled at the company’s plant from 1994 to 2005 and put on HiAce minibuses, Hilux pickups or various modifications of the Dyna truck. Numerous clones of this power unit are still produced in a number of Asian countries.
