The 2.0-liter CDL turbo engine is the second generation of the EA113 2.0 TFSI. It was produced from 2008 for the sportiest models of the concern: Audi S3 and TTS, Golf R, Scirocco R, SEAT León Cupra and Polo R WRC.
It is a development of the BHZ with the same strengthened internals and a K04 turbocharger. The family includes many sub-versions from CDLA to CDLK with 220 to 280 PS and 300-350 Nm: for example, the CDLA (265 PS) in the S3 and León Cupra R, the CDLB (272 PS) in the TTS, the CDLF (270 PS) in the European Golf R and the CDLJ (220 PS) in the Polo R WRC. In most models these engines were gradually replaced by the EA888 family.
The EA113-TFSI series also includes: AXX, BPY, BWA and BHZ.

Disadvantages of the Volkswagen CDL engine
- The cam follower of the high-pressure fuel pump wears and can damage the camshaft lobe if it is not replaced in time;
- Direct injection leads to carbon deposits on the intake valves;
- The crankcase ventilation valve and the turbo diverter valve often fail;
- The timing belt must be replaced on schedule, since the valves bend if it breaks.
