Engine Toyota 2GR-FKS

The 3.5-liter V6 Toyota 2GR-FKS engine has been produced by the Japanese concern since 2015 and is installed on such models as Camry, Sienna and Highlander, as well as Lexus RX350, ES350 and IS350. This engine features D-4S combined fuel injection and Atkinson cycle operation.

The engine was installed on:

  • Toyota Alphard 3 (AH30) since 2018;
  • Toyota Avalon 5 (XX50) since 2018;
  • Toyota Camry 8 (XV70) since 2017;
  • Toyota Highlander 3 (XU50) in 2016 – 2019; Highlander 4 (XU70) since 2019;
  • Toyota Sienna 3 (XL30) in 2017 – 2020;
  • Toyota Tacoma 3 (N300) since 2015;
  • Lexus ES350 7 (XZ10) since 2018;
  • Lexus GS350 4 (L10) in 2015 – 2020;
  • Lexus IS350 3 (XE30) since 2018;

Disadvantages of the 2GR-FKS engine

  • This power unit is considered reliable and serious damage was not noted;
  • On specialized forums, they regularly complain about oil leaks, especially on the timing cover;
  • Engine speed often floats due to the wedge of the canister purge electrovacuum valve;
  • Motors of this series came under recall for replacing the low pressure fuel pump;
  • The weaknesses of the engine also include short-lived ignition coils and a pump.
