Engine Honda K24Z

The 2.4-liter Honda K24Z engine was produced from 2007 to 2015 and replaced the K24A in the CR-V, the North American Accord, the Acura TSX and the European Accord. The K24Y versions for the Crosstour and the Thai CR-V are closely related to it.

Bore and stroke (87 x 99 mm) are the same as on the K24A; the versions differ in compression ratio (9.7 to 11.0), intake manifold and tuning. Like other K-series engines it has an aluminum block, a 16-valve DOHC head, a timing chain and i-VTEC. Output depends on the version: from 161-185 hp in the CR-V to 201-205 hp in the Acura TSX, the Acura ILX and the Civic Si with the K24Z7.

K-series family: K20A, K23A, K20C, K24Z, K24A, K24W.

Disadvantages of the Honda K24Z engine

  • A rattle of the VTC actuator on cold starts is a common complaint;
  • Some engines of 2008-2011 suffered from oil consumption due to stuck piston rings;
  • There are no hydraulic lifters, so valve clearances need periodic adjustment.
