The Nissan Fairlady Z / 350Z is a Japanese sports car of the 5th generation of the Z series of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Produced from 2002 to 2008. The model has a rear-wheel drive, a front-mounted engine and a 2-door and 2-seater coupe and roadster body. Due to the fact that the motor is located almost in the center, the 350Z has good weight distribution and controllability. In the domestic Japanese market, the model is called the Fairlady Z, and in the international market, it is the Nissan 350Z.
In 2007, mainly for Infiniti cars, the most advanced engine from the VQ series was introduced, designated as VQ37VHR. This unit replaced the VQ35HR and was developed on its basis. The block of cylinders VQ35HR has grown slightly in height, along with this, its rigidity has been increased.
The Nissan VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 engine has been assembled at the company’s Japanese plant since 2006 and is installed on numerous Nissan models based on the Front Midship platform. At the moment, such a unit is used only as part of a hybrid power plant.
The VQ35 engine is considered one of the most massive engines from Nissan. This engine has won “Best Engine of the Year” many times. VQ35 replaced the VQ30DE unit, which belonged to the first generation of VQ motors.
The first RB20 engines were installed on the Nissan Skyline R31. Early double overhead camshaft engines are referred to as “Red Top” because they have red caps. Later versions used the ECCS engine management system. There were different versions of 2-liter RB20 engines: RB20E, RB20ET, RB20DE, RB20DE NEO, RB20DET, RB20P, RB20DET-R.
