The 4.2-liter Audi V8 ABZ or A8 D2 4.2 quattro engine was produced from 1994 to 1998 and was installed on all-wheel drive versions of the famous A8 sedan in the D2 body. This motor was aggregated with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and an AKG engine similar to it with a 5-speed one.

Disadvantages of the Audi ABZ engine
- This is an aluminum block motor and is very afraid of overheating and bad fuel;
- Poor maintenance and overheating leads to scoring in cylinders;
- Saving on oil here can result in the failure of hydraulic lifters;
- Follow the timing belt replacement schedule, as when it breaks, the valves bend;
- Also, lubrication leaks are often found here, and especially at the junction of the motor with the gearbox.
