The 4.2-liter Audi BAR or Q7 4.2 FSI engine was produced by the company from 2005 to 2010 and was installed on such well-known crossovers as the Audi Q7 and the first generation Volkswagen Touareg. On the second generation of the Touareg, an updated version of this engine with the CGNA index is found.

Disadvantages of the Audi BAR engine
- The most famous problem of the motor is the oil burner due to scuffing in the cylinders;
- Also, a lot of problems for owners are caused by a capricious direct injection system;
- Timing chains are not the biggest resource, and their replacement is difficult and expensive;
- Plastic intake manifold prone to cracking and leaking;
- Ignition coils often fail and leaks occur at the junction of the engine and gearbox.
