Engine EZ30

The three-liter EZ30 engine was the flagship engine of all large Subaru cars for a full decade (1999-2009). It replaced the EG33 and in turn was gradually superseded by the more modern EZ33. The power unit was designed from scratch, and did not become a revision of some old motor, which allowed the designers to initially introduce advanced systems and technologies. The EZ30 engine is a boxer 6-cylinder injector packaged in an aluminum block with a nominal volume of 2999cc.

Engine EJ25

The EJ25 engine, which had a displacement of 2.5 liters, was launched by Subaru in 1995. The block of this engine was identical to the block of the EJ20 engine – just like its older brother, it was made of aluminum alloy and had a height of 201 mm. The only difference was in the diameter of the cylinders – unlike the 2.0-liter engine, which had 92 mm, the 2.5-liter engine had 99.5 mm. The block housed a crankshaft with a piston stroke of 79 mm. The length of the connecting rods was 130.5 mm, and the piston height was 30.7 mm.

Engine EZ36

The production of EZ 36 boxer motors began in 2007 at the Japanese Gunma Oizumi Plant and continues to this day. EZ 36 is a unit designed for gasoline with an octane rating “95”. The engine block is made of aluminum, fuel injection – injection; depending on the modification, the power can be 245 hp. and 258 hp.

Engine FA20

The FA20 is a completely new two-liter engine with an aluminum cylinder block. It is compact and takes up minimum space in the engine compartment. With its power ratings, this engine consumes a minimum of fuel, having fuel economy indicators in mixed mode at 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers. For a mid-size crossover, such fuel consumption figures are almost record-breaking.

Engine FB25

The FB25 boxer engine is an aluminum 6-cylinder injector with a nominal displacement of 2498 “cc” and a pair of light cylinder heads, each equipped with two camshafts. Gas distribution scheme – 16-valve DOHC, compression in the range of 10.0-10.3 (after 2014). The camshafts use a dual AVCS system, each driven by a maintenance-free timing chain. Experts recommend buying a used FB25 engine after 2014, when it was modified.

Engine EJ20

Mass production of the EJ series engines began back in 1989. The first car to receive the 2.0L EJ20 powerplant was the Subaru Legacy. This engine replaced the outdated EA82 engine with a volume of 1.8 liters. The base of the EJ20 was a 201 mm high boxer block made of aluminum alloy with four cylinders with a diameter of 92.0 mm, cased with a material of cast iron. Crankshaft with 75.0 mm stroke.
