The 1.6-liter Honda B16B engine was produced at a Japanese company from 1997 to 2000 and was exclusively installed only on the Civic Type R sports model and only in the EK9 body. The B16B motor had the highest boost rate of 110 hp per 1 liter for its time.
The B-series also includes internal combustion engines: B16A, B18B, B18C and B20B.

Disadvantages of the Honda B16B engine
- Despite the degree of forcing, this engine does not have any weak points;
- After 150 – 200 thousand kilometers, periodically begins to break through the cylinder head gasket;
- Monitor the condition of the timing belt, its resource is 90,000 km, and with a break, the valve bends;
- There are no hydraulic lifters here and valve adjustment is required every 40,000 km.
