The 2.0-liter Volvo B4204T35 hybrid engine has been assembled at the concern’s plant since 2015 and is installed on the S90 sedan, V90 station wagon and XC60 and XC90 crossovers in T8 modifications. This power unit is equipped with a turbine, a compressor and an 87 hp electric motor.
The Drive-E family also includes engines: B3154T, B4204T9 and B4204T23.
The engine was installed on:
- Volvo S90 II (234) since 2016;
- Volvo V90 2 since 2018;
- Volvo XC60 II (246) since 2017;
- Volvo XC90 II (256) since 2015.

Disadvantages of the B4204T35 engine
- Most owner complaints on specialized forums are related to oil consumption;
- In the early years of production, there were many cases of cracking of rubber pipes;
- Once every 60,000 km, the fuel injectors must be washed or they will fail;
- Change the timing belt every 120,000 km, as when it breaks, the valves bend here;
- Another common problem with these engines is oil seal leaks.
