The 1.3-liter Toyota 1NR-VE engine has been produced since 2015 in Japan and put it only on compact models that are offered in the automotive markets of Southeast Asia. The engine in all modifications is equipped with a variable valve timing system Dual VVT-i.
The NR family includes engines: 3NR‑FE, 8NR‑FTS, 1NR‑FE, 1NR‑VE, 1NR‑FKE, 2NR‑FE, 2NR‑VE, 2NR‑FKE.
The engine was installed on:
- Toyota Avanza F650 since 2015;
- Perodua Bezza since 2016;
- Perodua Myvi since 2017.

Disadvantages of the 1NR-VE engine
