The 1.9-liter 8-valve Peugeot DW8 or WJZ diesel engine has been produced since 1997 and installed on both the popular Partner and civilian models 206 or 306. In 2000, with the transition to EURO 3 environmental standards, this unit changed its index to DW8B or WJY.
The DW line also includes diesel engines: DW10TD and DW12TED4.
The engine was installed on:

- Citroen Berlingo I (M49/M59) in 1997 – 2007;
- Peugeot 206 I (T1) in 1998 – 2001;

Disadvantages of the Peugeot DW8 engine
- This diesel engine has no problems with reliability, its minus is only in low power;
- Many owners complain about constant fogging around the valve cover;
- Rough running of the engine hints at the fact that it would be time to adjust the valves;
- If the accessory belt breaks, there is a high risk of damaging the timing belt.
