The 4.8-liter Nissan TB48DE engine (or TB48 for short) with bore x stroke of 99.5 mm × 102 mm (3.92 in × 4.02 in) and double overhead camshaft has been produced at the company’s enterprises since 2001 and is put on a number of modifications of the Patrol SUV for markets where they do not save on fuel.

Disadvantages of the TB48DE engine
- The reliability of the engine is excellent, its only drawback is its huge fuel consumption;
- A number of Patrol owners were faced with the need to replace the fuel pump;
