The 1.2-liter 8-valve Fiat 188A4000 engine was produced in Italy from 1997 to 2012 and was installed on such popular concern models as the Palio, Panda, Punto, Uno and Strada pickup. Another such power unit was installed on Lancia Y cars and the first generation Ypsilon.

Disadvantages of the Fiat 188A4000 engine

  • Most of the complaints on specialized forums are related to oil consumption due to the occurrence of rings;
  • Also, on engines of the first years of production, the crankshaft pulley key was often cut off;
  • Often the engine speed floats due to contamination of the throttle or fuel pump grid;
  • The weak points of this power unit include its pillows, starter and thermostat;
