The 3.3-liter Mitsubishi 4D31 diesel appeared in November 1982 together with the 4D30 on the Fuso Canter, and later also powered the Rosa bus.
Unlike the 4D30, it has direct injection; it was offered naturally aspirated and turbocharged. The dimensions are the same, 100 x 105 mm, and output ranges from 100 to 130 hp with up to 279 Nm.
The 4D3 series also includes: 4D30, 4D32, 4D33, 4D34, 4D35 and 4D36.
