The Volvo D16G540 engine is a 16.1 liter, 6-cylinder in-line diesel engine equipped with a turbocharger and intercooler. Engine power 540 hp. The engine complies with the EU requirements for the level of toxicity of exhaust gases of the Euro 5 standard.

D16G540 is designed for heavy freight transport. It is based on a robust and reliable design with an overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and a precision electronic fuel injection system. Thanks to its very high power, the Volvo D16G 540 engine delivers maximum torque over a wide rpm range, guaranteeing excellent handling even in hilly terrain. And the high torque at low revs provides excellent traction performance.
