Disadvantages of the GM LY7 engine

  • The main problem of this power unit is considered to be a low resource of timing chains;
  • They can stretch up to 100,000 km, and replacing them is quite complicated and expensive;
  • When replacing chains, it is easy to ruin the front cover, but it is very expensive;
  • The motors of this series are very afraid of overheating, and the radiators, as luck would have it, leak regularly;
  • Weaknesses also include a short-lived pump and a capricious control unit.
