Engine Volvo D16G750

Engine Volvo D16G750

The Volvo D16G750 is a powerful 6-cylinder in-line engine with a turbocharger and an intercooler and a displacement of 16 liters. The D16G 750 engine has direct fuel injection. It uses a single cylinder head and overhead camshaft with 4 valves per cylinder and electronically controlled unit injectors.

The gas distribution mechanism is located at the rear of the engine. And, as always, the Volvo engine is equipped with a turbocharger and an intercooler. The D16G750 has a compression ratio of 17.3: 1. A truck with this engine can transport a road train weighing up to 85 tons.

The D16G 750 engine can be equipped with an open crankcase ventilation system in two versions:

  • basic version with oil separator;
  • eco-friendly design with oil separator and maintenance-free gas centrifuge for greater reduction in oil volume in exhaust gases.

This engine has a common, not a separate cylinder head. With an impressive volume of 16.1 liters, it produces 750 hp. power and 3550 Nm of thrust. In addition, there are clear requirements for the quality of diesel fuel: the “ULSD” standard (diesel fuel with ultra-low sulfur content, the maximum sulfur content is no more than 10 parts per million).

In addition to the optimal combustion process, the exhaust gases are purified using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. In this process, AdBlue is injected into the SCR catalytic converter before the exhaust gases enter the SCR catalytic converter. AdBlue reacts with nitrogen oxides to significantly reduce harmful emissions. Thanks to this system, the D16G 750 engine is approved in accordance with the Euro 5 / EEV emission standard.

The Volvo D16G750 engine uses single cylinder heads and overhead camshafts. The electronically controlled unit injectors deliver injection pressures – up to 2,400 bar with perfect timing – thanks to the EMS engine management system.

The D16G 750 engine meets the relevant noise emission standards. The crankshaft and camshaft are equipped with hydraulic vibration dampers to minimize noise and vibration. For even greater noise absorption at low engine speeds, a small amount of fuel injection is used, which is produced before the injection of the main dose.

Benefits of the Volvo D16G750 engine

  • maximum torque over a wide engine speed range;
  • quiet and economical engine;
  • low emission level complying with the ecological standard Euro-5 / EEV;
  • oil change intervals once a year (every 100,000 km) when using VDS4 oil;
  • high braking torque of the VEB + engine brake;
  • crankcase ventilation with high-performance centrifugal oil cleaner;
  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation;
  • AdBlue injection.
