Engine Volkswagen BSF

The 1.6-liter 8-valve Volkswagen BSF engine was produced from 2005 to 2015 and was installed on many VAG models in modifications for emerging markets. This engine is distinguished from the similar BSE by a lower compression ratio and an environmental class.

The EA113-1.6 series includes: AEH, AHL, AKL, ALZ, ANA, APF, ARM, AVU, BFQ, BGU, BSE, BSF.

Disadvantages of the VW BSF engine

  • This is a simple and reliable engine and it does not cause big problems to the owners.
  • The reason for the floating engine speed is a clogged fuel pump mesh and air leaks.
  • Also, cracks in the ignition coil and oxidation of its contacts are often found here.
  • Carefully monitor the condition of the timing belt, as when it breaks, the valves bend.
  • On long runs, the engine often consumes oil due to wear of rings and caps.
