The Mercedes OM447 engine is the engine used to power Mercedes buses such as the O405 and O408. The robust motor of this series runs smoothly regardless of the conditions in which it is used. OM447 can last a long time (up to 2,000,000 kilometers) if it is properly and promptly maintained.
Engines Mercedes OM 447 have been produced since December 1984. The first modification developed power up to 204 hp (150 kW). Considering that the motor only needs 6 cylinders for this, the volume of which is 12 liters, an excellent value for the specific power is achieved.
A year later, the OM447 engine came out with 280 hp (206 kW). It delivered more torque at low revs and was more efficient than its predecessor. Finally, in 1991, the third modification of the Mercedes OM 447 engines appeared, operating with a power of 299 hp (220 kW). This is the same 12-liter diesel engine, which, however, uses some new technologies to make it more powerful.
