The powerful and reliable engines of the Mercedes OM427 family are used as a power plant in medium-duty vehicles. These motors are installed not only in Mercedes’ own trucks, but also in the equipment of some other manufacturers. First of all, these units are appreciated for their reliability and durability.

The maximum service life of OM427 diesel engines reaches 2 million km, subject to periodic maintenance and adherence to general operating conditions.

The Mercedes OM 427 engine series is a 6-cylinder in-line engine with a volume of 11.9 liters. The maximum power is 241 hp. (177 kW). Since 1985, a modification of the engine has been produced, which is capable of delivering up to 280 hp (206 kW) with the same components with the same parameters. These engines, as well as the other two series of the family, use fuel pumps and injectors from another German manufacturer – Bosch. The cylinders are located in one row, which simplifies service and repair.
