Engine MAN D2862

Engine MAN D2862

In keeping with the motto “reliable and efficient”, MAN developed the 12-cylinder V-engine, which was presented at the SMM 2014 in Hamburg, Germany. The German engine manufacturer has thus expanded the power range of its high-speed heavy-duty motors to 1,397 kW (1,900 hp).

The MAN D2862 engine fits seamlessly into the ideals of optimum efficiency and product quality. By adapting the turbocharger and valve timing, MAN has been able to increase the average pressure and increase the power rating. The new efficient MAN D2862 engine with increased power and a dry weight of 2380 kg provides an excellent power density for severe operating conditions.

The powerful MAN engine with a displacement of 24.24 liters, an inner diameter of a cylinder of 128 mm and a piston stroke of 157 mm develops a maximum torque of 6220 Nm at speeds from 1200 to 2100 rpm. The MAN D2862 is particularly efficient when considering costs over its entire life cycle: even with specific consumption at full load at maximum torque, the 12-cylinder engine has an outstanding minimum consumption of 192.3 g / kWh. In addition, it has 600 hour oil change intervals and an average overhaul interval of 18,000 operating hours. Individually mounted cylinder heads also offer ease of maintenance, making MAN’s solid power unit shine when it comes to profitability calculations.
