Engine Hyundai D4AL

Engine Hyundai D4AL

Hyundai D4AL engines are widely known for their reliability, optimal quality and price ratio. They differ in environmental friendliness of exhaust, economical consumption of fuel and lubricants. The fuel is almost completely burned in their working chamber, instant start is possible thanks to the electronic starter.

The turbocharged D4AL engine with intercooler has an in-line design with a displacement of 3298 cm3. Four valves per cylinder for a total of 16 valves, thanks to which the unit develops 115 horsepower at 3000 rpm. The D4AL engine was installed on compact trucks and buses, which were mainly used for the transportation of medium-tonnage cargo within a settlement or region, therefore, they were operated almost every day. Most of the owners noted the high reliability and maintainability of this engine.

The D4AL engine belongs to the type of overhead valve (OHV, OverHead Valve – “valves in the head of the block”). The location of the valves on top, that is, in the cylinder head, made it possible to optimize the size of the combustion chamber, experiment with its shape and reduce air losses. As a result, the capacity with the same volume increases by at least 25%. The figure shows the cylinder block disassembled with the main moving parts, as well as negative points that you should pay attention to when servicing the engine.
