The D13A440 engine is a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 12.8 liters. Its power is 440 hp. Designed for heavy freight transport, also suitable for construction work. It is based on a robust and reliable design with an overhead camshaft, 4 valves per cylinder and a precise electronic fuel injection system.
The unit injectors with which the engine is supplied provide fuel injection at high pressure. The specially designed combustion chamber and intake manifold ensure optimal combustion. The high efficiency is facilitated by the rate of gas filling. This ensures excellent engine performance.

The D13A440 is equipped with the Volvo EMS engine management system, which means fully electronic control of functions. The system provides efficient engine management, more accurate diagnostics and troubleshooting. The information is presented on the display on the dashboard in a simple and understandable manner.
In addition to optimizing the combustion process, the exhaust gases are treated using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. This process is due to the fact that before the exhaust gases are sent to the catalytic converter of the system, AdBlue reagent is injected into them. This reagent reacts with nitrogen oxides to reduce emissions. Thanks to this system, the engine is approved in accordance with the Euro 4 emission standards.
