The 1.5-liter diesel engine Hyundai D3EA or 1.5 CRDI was produced from 2001 to 2005 and was installed on such compact models as the Matrix, Getz and Second Generation Accent. This power unit is essentially a 3-cylinder modification of the D4EA engine.
The D family also included diesels: D4EA and D4EB.
The engine was installed on:
- Hyundai Accent 2 (LC) in 2003 – 2005;
- Hyundai Getz 1 (TB) in 2003 – 2005;
- Hyundai Matrix 1 (FC) in 2001 – 2005.

Disadvantages of the Hyundai D3EA engine
- First of all, this is a rather noisy engine, prone to excessive vibrations;
- Most often, owners are concerned about the fuel system: injectors or injection pumps;
- Monitor the condition of the timing belt, because when it breaks, the valves always bend here;
- Due to the burnout of the washers under the nozzles, the unit quickly overgrows with soot from the inside;
- The power unit often freezes at certain speeds due to ECU glitches;
- A clogged receiver leads to oil starvation of the liners and their cranking;
- On runs over 200,000 km, the cylinder head of this diesel engine cracks very often.
