Disadvantages of the VW AHU engine
- Most of the complaints are about dips in traction due to contamination of the turbine valve or EGR;
- Antifreeze leaks are also common due to a cracked cooling tee;
- The lower flange of the crankcase ventilation tube also periodically bursts and grease oozes through the sump;
- At high mileage, valve seats often burn out and the engine loses compression;
- A broken ribbed belt here can get into the timing and the engine will end.
