Disadvantages of the GM LTG engine

  • This turbo engine has been produced for quite a long time and many of its shortcomings have already been corrected;
  • First of all, the unit is afraid of detonation and its aluminum pistons simply burst;
  • Like all direct injection engines, it suffers from carbon deposits on the intake valves;
  • The timing chain does not have a large resource either, sometimes it stretches up to 100,000 km;
  • Also, grease leaks are very common here, and especially from under the timing cover.
