Lexus CT
The compact five-door hatchback Lexus CT 200h was launched in Japan in 2011. The car, which became the brand’s first model in the golf class, was designed to compete with the hatchback Audi A3, BMW first series and Mercedes-Benz A-class.
For the model, only one power unit was offered – a third-generation Toyota Prius hybrid power plant. It consists of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine (99 hp), an electric motor (82 hp), an electromechanical variator and a nickel-metal hydride battery located under the trunk floor.
The hybrid power unit produces a total peak power of 136 hp and provides fuel consumption of 3.6 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle. A short distance (2-3 kilometers) can be driven by a car in purely electric mode.
At the beginning of 2014, a restyled Lexus CT 200h entered the market with an updated design, a new steering wheel, modified interior trim materials and modified suspension settings.
The 1.8-liter Toyota 2ZR-FXE engine has been assembled at the factories of the Japanese concern since 2009 and is installed on the hybrid versions of the Auris, Corolla and Lexus CT, but is best known for the Prius. In the Chinese market, it is offered under its own indexes 5ZR-FXE and 8ZR-FXE.
