Disadvantages of the 1AR-FE engine

The Toyota 1AR engine is quite reliable and durable. Its service life with high-quality and regular maintenance can exceed 300 thousand km. However, no matter how perfect it is, it also has some disadvantages:

  • Owners complain about loud engine operation, especially during cold starts;
  • The pump has a small resource and sometimes gives up on low runs;
  • After 150,000 km, a single-row timing chain often stretches;
  • There are cases of loss of compression, but this is only at high mileage.
