Disadvantages of the Audi ALT engine

  • First of all, this engine is known for its impressive oil consumption.
  • In second place is the low resource of the chain tensioner, which is also the phase regulator.
  • The crankcase ventilation pipes regularly crack, which leads to air leakage.
  • Also, the oil pump and the lubricant pressure sensor are not very durable.
  • At high mileage, newfangled hollow exhaust valves often burst here.

  1. I drive mine respecting the speed limits and like a limousine with respect as the torque is there at 3000 rpm I use about one litre oil on ,7000 UK miles not that bad
VW Audi have always sought efficient engines with low fuel consumption driving them with repsect makes them last .
