The 1.8-liter Volkswagen AGU 1.8T engine was produced by the concern from 1996 to 2005 and was installed on such popular models as the fourth Golf, the first Octavia and the Audi A3. This transverse power unit, along with the longitudinal AEB, has a cylinder head with wide channels.
The EA113-1.8T series includes: AGU, AWT, AMB, AWM, AUQ, AWC.

Disadvantages of the VW AGU engine
- An engine turbocharger can fail very quickly with a clogged catalyst;
- The crankcase ventilation system causes many problems, especially its often cracked pipes;
- Due to air leaks in the intake manifold, the engine speed is constantly floating;
- The oil pump and timing chain tensioner have a very limited resource here;
- The cause of unstable engine operation is often a failure of the mass air flow sensor or coolant temperature sensor.
